IMPORT- EXPORT Code

Import Export Code (IEC) is a unique 10-digit code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) in India. It is required for individuals or businesses to engage in import or export activities. Predominantly importer merchants cannot import goods without the Import Export Code and similarly, the exporter merchant cannot avail benefits from DGFT for the export scheme, etc., without IEC.

The IEC is used for:

  • Importing goods into India.
  • Exporting goods from India.
  • Receiving foreign payments for export transactions.
